Cretoxyrhinidae GLUCKMAN 1958
Cretalamna appendiculata
The images of this tooth were kindly supplied to me by Rick Johnson. I understand that C. appendiculata was long thought to have become extinct at the end of or during the Cretaceous period. However the discovery of this tooth on Sheppey proves that the species survived long into Tertiary times. If anyone out there has found specimens of this species in Caenozoic strata please let me know.
