There are very few mammal fossils from the London clay of Sheppey in existence. Most are of the little Eocene horse Hyracotherium leporinum. As far as I can discover only six distinct species have been identified, two of which are illustrated on these pages |

is also known as the Dawn Horse having four hoofed 'toes' on each foot. |
